Mrs. Helen Hellenbrand

I graduated in 1984 with a BA in English and a minor in Economics from Columbia University, NY, NY, and in 1987 from Fordham University School of Law, NY, NY.
At St. John, in 2019-2020, I was a part-time assistant in third and fifth grade and, in 2020-2021, a full time assistant in sixth grade. For the last two years, I taught fourth grade. Prior to assistant teaching at St. John, I practiced law.
Six of my seven children graduated from St. Johns.
My mission is to instill a love for our faith and learning.

I have my mother to thank for my love of reading and my relationship with God. After living everywhere from D.C to Alaska, my family and I finally settled in Dane. I have a restless spirit that takes me to all sorts of adventures. I truly love sharing my passion for writing and great stories in the middle school setting.

I grew up in Reedsburg, WI and have lived most of my adult life in the Tomah area. My wife is also a teacher and we have two sons and a wonderful daughter in law. I enjoy most outside activities like biking, hiking, skiing, and really anything active. Muskie fishing is also a love of mine as well as coaching wrestling.

I feel humbled and honored to be called staff member at Saint John the Baptist School. It was here where I attended Catholic school as a student, and I am thrilled to be back as a teacher. Besides being a mother, I do not think there could be anything more fulfilling than sharing our beautiful faith with Middle School students who are in the midst of their seeking and finding years. Our school provides a safe and loving environment for these students to discover and grow in their faith while getting a wonderful academic base that prepares them for their high school years.
