Ms. Shannon Conaway

Kindergarten Teacher / sconaway@stjb.org

Teaching children is something I have wanted to do since I was very young. Catholic education has always been an important part of my life. I moved to Waunakee after attending St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sandusky, Ohio. I graduated from Waunakee High School and Edgewood College.

I am married to Bob Hineline. We have two adult daughters Colleen and Kiera. Both graduated from Saint John School!

In my free time, I love to read, work on 1000 piece puzzles, go for long walks, travel, and watch baseball. I am an avid Cleveland Fan!

This year is my 30th year as part of the Saint John School family. I absolutely love teaching kindergarten! I strive to help children grow academically, socially, as well as spiritually. I feel truly blessed to be called to teach at Saint John School and be a part of this school family. Saint John School is a wonderful place where we can celebrate and pass on the Catholic faith to future generations!

Even though I have only been working at St John's since 2011, I have been involved with the school for many years during the time my four children attended here. They are all married and it brings me joy to see two of my grandkids at the school. I feel blessed to be able to work with staff who love to share their faith.

All I ever wanted to be was a mom and a teacher--and I'm thrilled to be both! I graduated from UW-Madison in 1983 with a degree in Elementary Education. My happy place is the classroom. I love teaching about the sacraments in second grade. It's a very special year. My husband, Jeff, and I have four wonderful adult children. We have been married for 40 years! When I'm not at school, I enjoy making cards, scrap booking, and reading.

3rd Grade Teacher  / hkurzinski@stjb.org

Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, I stayed and taught in the urban Milwaukee area for 3 years at an elementary school for the gifted and talented.  Marriage brought me back to Madison and I've spent the last 4 years teaching 8th graders math and science.  I'm thrilled to embark on a new journey teaching at Saint John's this year!  This is the place I built my strongest relationships and I can't wait to help others do the same.  Learning is a lifelong process and I look forward to sharing my love for education.

My name is Miss Ellen Peterson, and I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade at Saint John's. I graduated from the University of Minnesota, and am a current graduate student at Edgewood College. I have student taught 4th grade at Huegel Elementary School and began teaching at Saint Johns in 2021. This year I am so excited to continue building a classroom of my own. A fun fact about me is that I used to be a student at Saint John's. I am so excited to be coming back to the school to help another group of students grow in their relationship with God.

Mr. Peter Schaubroeck

4th Grade Teacher  / pschaubroeck@stjb.org

I feel very blessed to be a teacher at this school. I've worked in the business sector for several years, and then became a stay-at-home dad raising three wonderful boys before I received my teaching degree at Edgewood College. I've spent my short 5 years as a teacher here at St.John's and loving every minute of it. With a Catholic education myself, I understand the importance of empowering our students to strengthen their foundation of our Catholic beliefs to take on the challenges they will face throughout life.
