Kindergarten Teacher / sconaway@stjb.org

Teaching children is something I have wanted to do since I was very young. Catholic education has always been an important part of my life. I moved to Waunakee after attending Saint Mary Catholic School in Sandusky, Ohio. I graduated from Waunakee High School and Edgewood College.

I am married to Bob Hineline. We have two daughters. Colleen is a recent graduate of University of Wisconsin- Madison and is at St. Scholastica in Duluth studying to become a Physical Therapist. Kiera is a junior at Edgewood College in the Business program. Both graduated from Saint John School.

In my free time, I love to read, work on puzzles, walk, travel, and watch baseball. I am an avid Cleveland Indians Fan!

This year is my 28th year as part of the Saint John School family. I absolutely love teaching kindergarten! I love to help children grow academically, socially, as well as spiritually. I feel truly blessed to be called to teach at Saint John School and be a part of this school family. Saint John School is a wonderful place where we can celebrate and pass on the Catholic faith to future generations!

I started working at STJB School 5 years ago in the Preschool Program. I live in Sun Prairie with my husband Jim and we are members of St. Dennis Parish in Madison. We have 3 grown children (Max, Mallory, Molly), a daughter-in-law (Meghan), a Goldendoodle (Mabel) and are so excited for the birth of our first grandchild. I love eating chocolate, cooking for my family, reading to children, the sun, boating with my family, wearing the color black, recess time and most of all God. I am grateful to be a part of the STJB School Family.

All of our children have attended St. John School, and this fall we have kids in 4th, 6th, and 8th grades at SJS, plus a 10th grader at St. Ambrose Academy. In recent years, I worked as a special needs assistant in Lodi and as a 4K assistant at SJS. This year I am so excited about the opportunity to help out in the mornings in first grade at SJS, as I love being around children. Our family enjoys hiking, camping, sailing, and kayaking.

I attended Edgewood College where I earned a degree in Elementary Education with minors in Religious Studies and Teaching English Language Learners. When I discerned a teaching career in college, I knew right away that I wanted to work at a Catholic school, and here I am! I'm so happy to be a part of the St. John's community!

Last year I student taught 4th grade at Huegel Elementary School, and this year I am so excited to have a classroom of my own. A fun fact about me is that I used to be a student at St. John's. I feel very blessed to be a teacher at this school. I've worked in the business sector for several years, and then became a stay-at-home dad raising three wonderful boys before I received my teaching degree at Edgewood College. I've spent my short 5 years as a teacher here at St.John's and loving every minute of it. With a Catholic education myself, I understand the importance of empowering our students to strengthen their foundation of our Catholic beliefs to take on the challenges they will face throughout life.
