​The Children's Liturgy of the Word is offered to parallel the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. Our program is designed for 3 to 6 year olds and is offered during the 10:30 AM Sunday Mass. While adults listen to the Gospel in church, the children also listen to the Gospel at an age appropriate level. The priest will call the children forward and send them to the Narthex with a blessing. The children return to their families during Offertory.

There is no registration required. Parents are welcome and encouraged to volunteer. Training and material are provided. To help with Children's Liturgy please contact Kim Piazza in the parish office at 849.5121.

Periodic musician planning and liturgy planning sessions are available for volunteers to attend to offer feedback and have questions answered. ​

CANTOR
Lead the congregation in worship with song. Most cantors practice on their own and then meet with their musician/pianist 30 minutes before mass to run through things: psalm, acclamation, hymns that need practice, and general troubleshooting. Cantors can work solo or as a duet—harmony is encouraged. Please contact Paul Wiesler. 

CHOIR + GUITAR
​Members of our congregation who love to sing and are willing to commit to regular weekly rehearsal times and singing for Mass are always welcome. Saint John's has an Adult Choir, Youth Choir and a Guitar Group. Please contact the Parish Office for Adult and Youth Choir and Steve Geishirt for Guitar Group.

PIANISTS + MUSICIANS

Most musicians practice on their own and then meet with their cantor or choir 30 minutes before mass to run through things: psalm, acclamation, hymns that need practice, and general troubleshooting. Musicians are encouraged to talk with other church musicians for tips and things to be aware of. Mentoring is available. Please contact Julie Greiber 

Lay Ministers of the Eucharist take Holy Communion to homebound parishioners on Wednesday and Friday mornings They also distribute Communion to the elderly at the Waunakee Manor Nursing Home and residence of the Manor Retirement Center on Friday morning. Boys and girls who have completed their first semester of fourth grade are encouraged to become Mass Servers. Attendance at a training session is required. Servers are welcome to join at anytime. Please contact the parish office for more information including how to sign up.

The Lectors proclaims God's Word at weekend and/or weekday liturgies. Training and commissioning are offered each year. Members are welcome to join at anytime. Please contact the parish office for more information including how to sign up.

Eucharistic Ministers assist in the distribution of the Eucharist with Bread and/or Cup. This ministry is open to all confirmed parishioners in good standing. Training and commissioning are offered each year. Please contact the parish office for more information including how to sign up.

Greeters are asked to arrive 20 minutes before Mass begins. Greeters stand at the entrance of the church and welcome people as they enter, while handing out bulletins. This program has been organized to help make both parishioners and visitors feel welcome at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church.
