Faith Formation Registration Form

K - 6 CLASSES

We are currently in the process of registration for the fall.  Please download the registration form and return it to the rectory as soon as possible. All registration forms are due by 5 PM, Monday, August 30th.

For K-6 students in Faith Formation the primary learning tool in the classroom is the text, Call to Faith.  Call to Faith is shaped around the following catechetical principles:

• Conversion is central to catechesis:  the aim of Call to Faith is to form learners into disciples who act with the mind and heart of Christ.
• Catechesis is a life-long process:  catechesis is gradual, systematic, and lifelong.  We are transformed and touched by the living God throughout our lives and it is necessary to learn and deepen our faith as we grow.
• Catechesis is the responsibility of all baptized members of the Church: the whole parish community is called to hand on the faith through faith sharing and the witness of daily life.

Each weekly lesson is dependent upon the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the General Directory for Catechesis.  Each lesson is also focused on four areas:

1.      Scripture

2.      Doctrine

3.      Lives of the Saints and People of Faith

4.      Cultural Customs and Celebrations

Call to Faith builds upon seven themes.  Each year the student’s faith deepens and grows through the understanding of each of these themes, which include:  

1.      Revelation

2.      Trinity

3.      Jesus Christ

4.      The Church

5.      Morality

6.      Sacraments

7.      The Kingdom of God

Each class period also includes prayer and different activities, such as crafts, stories, and videos, to help each learner to understand the lesson at his or her own level.  Students also participate in service projects throughout the year such as card making, food pantry collections, and more.
